Utility to Futility

Axelle Mary & Sacha Delabre - Glass Bim Burton - Wood Izzi Lombardo - Metal

“Utility to Futility" explores how objects, through their form and materiality, challenge our understanding of functionality. Glass, wood, and metal intertwine to create works that, despite their familiar appearance, are fundamentally unusable. By transforming everyday objects into absurd artifacts, the exhibition invites reflection on the value we assign to what surrounds us. Each creation questions our relationship with consumption and critiques the imperative of utility. These deliberately impractical objects call into question our notions of art and design. Here, uselessness becomes a means of reinventing aesthetics, freeing forms from their function to turn them into elements of contemplation. Through this approach, the exhibition aligns itself with the traditions of Dadaism and the absurd, movements that deconstructed norms and disrupted established values. The futility of these pieces, far from being a flaw, becomes a creative gesture, prompting us to reconsider our priorities and our relationship with the material world.
